Benefits of using DIY Face Mask for Acne-Prone Skin and its Ingredients:-

Betonite Clay:

Betonite clay is a very mineral rich substance. It comes from the deposits of aged volcanic ash which has several minerals and nutrients. Betonite clay works as a magnet for harmful substances. It is really effective at pulling out toxins, bacteria and impurities while unclogging the pores and keeping the skin clean of acne causing bacteria. Betonite clay is commonly used around the world to heal skin issues such as Acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, etc.

Greek Yogurt:

Yogurt is great for your health as well as skin but did you know Yogurt can be as much beneficial for your skin when applied externally? Greek yogurt as compared to plain yogurt is a lot more beneficial for our skin. Greek yogurt contains lactose enzymes, which dissolve dirt and nourish your skin. The fatty acids in this ingredients help in keeping the skin clean and soft. Greek yogurt also helps to reduce redness and calm breakouts. I’ve put Greek yogurt in this recipe because while Betonite clay is pretty strong and will dry out the Acne spots, Yogurt is very mild and will give the nourishment back to our skin.

Tea tree oil:

Tea tree essential oil has anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. It also has an anti-bacterial compound called Terpinen-4 that destroys the bacteria that infects the skin and pores resulting in flared up skin or worse, Acne. This is the only essential oil proven to fight against active Acne.

Directions:

Take Betonite clay and Greek yoghurt in a wooden bowl.

Mix the clay and yoghurt well.

Now add Tea tree oil to this mixture. Make sure to mix everything together very nicely.

Apply this DIY face mask for acne-prone skin with Betonite clay, Greek yoghurt and Tea tree oil on cleansed face for 20 minutes then wash it off.

Note:

Use this mask twice a week in the starting. Then as you start noticing a difference in your skin’s texture, make it once a week.

You have to make this mask fresh every time. It’s really easy and quick to make.

Never use a metal bowl or spoon while working with Betonite clay as it takes away from the clay’s benefits. If you don’t have wooden utensils, plastic can work just as well.

A Clay/mud mask, when wet, affects your skin positively but, when they dry and crack they vacuum all the moisture from your face, leaving you with a dry & red face. In my opinion, apply a thick layer of face mask when working with clay or mud masks and DO NOT let them dry completely.

You can substitute the essential oil as per your preference. I’ve suggested Tea tree oil because it works specifically to eliminate acne. You can even try Jojoba oil or Black Seed Oil as it’s also very good for skin and quite moisturizing.

I had even did few amazing DIY’s in my blog which you can check here.

I hope you enjoyed the post and found it helpful!
