Jojoba oil is a liquid wax extracted from the nut of an indigenous American shrub that goes by the scientific name Simmondsia chinensis. It has a slight nutty smell and clear golden colour in the raw form, but the refined oil is completely odourless, negating the need for any perfuming agents when used for cosmetic and healing purposes. At the same time, it is a good carrier oil for several essential oils.
Jojoba Oil Benefits and Uses:-
Most of the soaps and cleansers strip the skin of natural oil and makes its dry and dehydrated. Being a waxy substance Jojoba Oil can lock in moisture on the skin and create an effective barrier to external elements.
All you have to do is take a few drops of this oil in your palm and massage the dry skin of your face and hands after thoroughly washing it. And do keep it overnight to work its magic on the skin.
Acne is caused by the increase sebum production caused by the reduction in the oil and moisture levels of skin. This excessive sebum production blocks the hair follicles and results in acne. Jojoba oil works in dual ways to control acne, first by deep cleaning the skin, thus dissolving the sebum blockage. And another by being Antibacterial, it controls the bacterial growth in the hair follicles and soothes the irritated skin thus controlling acne. It is actually considered as an American alternative to the Australian Tea Tree Oil.
Jojoba is great in moisturizing skin by locking down the moisture; similarly it’s great for making the lips smooth and soft by keeping it moisturized. It even protects the lips from the effects of dry and damaging weather.
Cuticles are very soft and tender just like our lips and they tend to dry out faster. Specially it we use nail polish remover too often, because the chemicals present in it. But cuticles are very important to protect our nail bed and for the overall beauty of our hand and feet.
So this oils proves to be very amazing in protecting as well as hydrating cuticles. Just apply a drop or two and massage daily after bath or before going to bed. Because of its Vitamin E content Jojoba oil is as amazing as any cuticle oil available in the market.
Softer Hands and Feet:-
Dry hands and cracked feet are most common issues we face specially during winters. Frequent washing with chemical infused soaps and cleansers also make our hands dry.
Applying this oil regularly on clean hands and feet will definitely make it smooth and moisturized by creating a layer to steal in the moisture. Its antibacterial action will also heal cracked feet and avoid such things in future.
Whatever the kind of sunscreen you apply before heading out in sun or beach, your skin’s bound to get damaged because of the harmful effects of sun and pollution. And as a result it turns red or itchy. It is the time when the Jojoba Oil comes to the rescue; it soothes the skin and repairs the sun and environmental damage on the skin. The waxy layer of Jojoba Oil protects the skin, at the same time nourishing it.
Makes hairs soft and manageable:-
Jojoba oil can help condition and moisture hair. Whether you apply it before wash, while washing with the shampoo or after washing, it will make your hairs tangle free, soft and much more manageable. It will even leave a waxy coating on the hairs to protect it from dirt and dryness.
Maintains Hair growth:-
Similar to our skin, the sebum build up in the scalp can block the hair follicles preventing the smooth growth of hair. Jojoba oil acts as a cleanser and helps dissolve the sebum build up in the scalp, thus maintaining the proper growth of hair. The vitamins and minerals in the oil even adds volume to the hair and make the scalp nourished and healthy, which in turns led to healthy hairs.
Scalp dryness is the primary cause of the dandruff which can be very effectively solved by the application of the Jojoba Oil. This oil is naturally rich in vitamins and is antifungal which is very helpful in controlling and eliminating dandruff.
