Compact powders are something which has been used since ages by women to set makeup or to just give a nice even glow to the face. I’m not a much of exception to this. Being an oily skinned person, I’m quite a sucker for good quality compacts. So I decided upon trying this L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact and Foundation.
I bought this during one of my wedding shopping sprees, as I was aware I will have to be in constant makeup for at least few weeks after wedding. So I wanted something which has a good lasting power. The 12H Shine free claim of this compact attracted me towards it and that too coming from a brand like L’Oreal Paris made it worth trying!

L’Oreal is a French cosmetics company with a registered office in Paris. It is the world’s largest cosmetics company and has developed activities in the field of cosmetics, concentrating on hair colour, skin care, sun protection, make-up, perfume and hair care. My experience with the L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact:-
Texture and Consistency-
Texture of this compact surely makes it an outstanding product. Its texture is quite different, being almost creamy smooth rather than being powdery, unlike other compacts available in market.
No don’t worry it’s not much creamy and all, just a little bit smooth and very light making it an ideal product. All the powder is finely milled, which helps to give a perfect and fresh finish to the face. It glides on easily on the skin giving the perfect Matte finish, which stays for a good number of hours. For me it is always bliss to work with this compact powder as it blends on so easily with a powder brush or the sponge.
It gives medium to sheer coverage which is buildable without looking too powdery or cakey. I love this compact, it just amazingly settles on my skin like a second skin never making me look too unnatural. It is also a great alternative for setting powders or loose powder as it does a wonderful job of setting my Concealer as well as Foundation. It never does settles in fine lines especially around the eyes as my eyes have bit wrinkles or fine lines around it. And when I want that ‘No Makeup’ makeup look this is the first thing I grab on, just a bit of concealer on the bridge of my nose and on under eyes, topped up with this compact and I am good to go. It is a great daily wear makeup product with an instant brightening effect. Being non cosmedogenic it won’t even block pores, so you will never have to worry about acne and other skin problems.
My skin is super, super oily so I don’t expect products to stay much. But the staying power of this compact quite surprised me; obviously I didn’t expect it to stay 12H as stated on packaging. But it did stayed for atleast 6 hours (no primer) without any touch ups and that to after that it fades just a little bit. The best thing is it never lets the oil come on surface, keeping my skin matte for whole time. Once I apply this over my makeup I feel so good and oil free, I don’t have to constantly check in mirror for oiliness, no need for blotting papers just perfect Matte oil free bright skin for atleast 6 hours!!!
Things I like about the L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact:-
Doesn’t settles in fine lines
Amazing staying power
Makes skin matte and bright
Things I don’t like about the L’Oreal Paris Mat Magique Compact:-
Limited shades available
Doesn’t stays for 12H as per the claims
Ratings: – 4.9/5
First of all I would let you know that this is my second purchase of this compact, I had already used up the first one and I’m head over heels in love with it. This is by far the best drugstore compact available for every skin type specially combination to oily skin. Whatever is your skin type you won’t face any issues with this compact, only the staying period may differ according to the climate you are in.
So what are your views on my posts??? Do like using compacts?? If yes, which one is your favourite??
